name maiara.
age 23.
gender female.
rank chief.
shift corsac fox.
short description slender dark haired young woman with light blue eyes and a heavily tattooed arm, a small, light colored fox with sandy patches and amber eyes.
appearance to outsiders, maiara doesn't look well suited to be chief of the mistrunners - or chief of anything. everything about her is decidedly small and fragile; 'infinitesimal' some would say. she carries herself slowly, as if she's unsure of every step she takes - like her legs may give out beneath her. she's cautious and seemingly uninterested in exerting herself in any physical activities that carry even an ounce of possibility for injury; the only sign of a fighter in her lies on her right arm, where intricate tattoos of flowers, animals, and symbols you can only guess at mar her otherwise pale skin. her very presence is nothing noteworthy - just a quiet girl with her face turned to the moon or over your shoulder, as she never seems to look others in the eye, her delicate fingers threading nervously among her long, dark locks.
within her tribe, however, is a different story. maiara is active and while she may not be the strongest of fighters, she's certainly swift. she moves with grace among her fellow tribesmen, climbing the trees as nimbly as any squirrel, and leaping deftly from rock to rock on the mountains. she forgoes dresses for her wild romps around the territory, choosing instead to don simple leather leggings and a shirt, pouches at her waist ready to be filled with whatever wonders she happens across. the only ornamentation she wears (unless circumstances call for something more extravagant, something more fitting for the chief) is a wolf fang on a leather cord around her neck.
maiara has, since her trial, always preferred being shifted rather than human. you can read far too much on a human face, and without the buffer of thick fur, she feels entirely too exposed. the body of a corsac fox is comfortable to her, it is right, more so than her awkward and dainty-looking human form. she's still small, yes, but there's a savage strength in her jaws and a sharpness in her senses; she can hear her prey moving under trees and snow, smell the fear rolling off them as she pounces. it's intoxicating to have power without fear of breaking, to turn her amber glare onto an enemy as they realize that they are going to die.
it's a feeling well worth the trouble of cleaning bloodstains from pale and sandy tresses.
personality appreciative, attentive, discrete, resourceful, discouraged, hesitant, obsessive, withdrawn
maiara is not a sociable person by nature. she's always been rather withdrawn, preferring to spend her days by herself or among a few quiet companions. her favorite moments are almost all consisted of times where she was completely alone - hunting, exploring, staring at the stars from the bluffs on a clear night. she rarely has the luxury now to skirt around her fellow tribemates, or to pass up idle conversation. make no mistake, she loves them - most of them - but maiara has always been fiercely protective of her privacy. some have mistaken this slight aversion to social contact as being unappreciative and dismissive, believing that since she has rose seemingly effortless to become chief, she believes herself to be above them.
