rules
o1. We are a literate roleplay, so a grasp of basic grammar and spelling skills is required, however we welcome all skill levels from beginner to advanced in an effort to help everyone's writing ability grow.
o2. We recommend that all members be at least 18 years of age, however this is not a requirement, as we do allow mature langue in both the chat and in-character as well as potentially disturbing topics following the lines of torture/graphic violence, domestic violence, self harm/suicide, incest. and other mature or trigger topics.
o3. All mature content threads MUST be marked with a M to indicate to players that the thread contains mature content that others might find uncomfortable. All participants of the thread must be in agreement prior to the post being made that there will be mature content and be able to handle it. Anything that is racist, prejudice, sexist, or otherwise socially inappropriate must be in the spirit of the roleplay and should be contained within the characters and never directed at another member.
o4. Due to Proboards TOS the following topics will NOT be allowed - Anything involving graphic/detailed sexual encounters of any kind. We are not here to write smut. If your characters want to get a little touchy-feely go for it, but once those clothes come off fade to black or pan to the window.
o5. Here we do not utilize the multiple accounts feature and keep all of our characters on one account. The character limit is 4, although this is subject to change at a later date. Once you have reached your maximum you are welcome to purchase another character slot from the Beads store.
o6. For your general behavior and interaction with other other members, please be polite and respectful. That is all.
o7. Do not steal! While we cannot and will not track your movements or what you do, if it is discovered that you have stolen content of any kind from anywhere, your account will be terminated without notice and you will be banned from rejoining the forum. No one likes a thief.
o8. As long as your avatars are not sexually revealing and are the correct sizes, we don't care what you use for your avatars.
o9. Same thing with your signatures. Just don't stretch shit and you're cool.
1o. As staff we reserve the full right to alter the rules however and whenever we see fit without warning. As members you have the right to question any changes made until compromises can be made between both parties.characters & roleplaying
o1. Character appearances must remain natural, no wild colored hair or neon colored eyes. For Tribe members we do request that the faceclaims you choose be dark haired/dark eyed, however it is not required. If we do end up with too many blonde or red headed tribe members, we will be forced to change this rule and not allow any tribe members to have these characteristics for a time. For their animal counterparts, these must be completely realistic as well, however their appearance is not reliant on their human form.
o2. When writing your characters biography, be specific! Make them a believable person. We will ask that you make changes if your character is too flat or too extreme. (completely boring, 0 personality, or wildly happy/evil isn't realistic!)
o3. Creating your character's name can be quite an experience. Since the tribes are heavily nature based, the names of your Tribe members should be nature related however we do accept the typical native spellings, but please keep in mind that you probably won't see someone from the Thunderfoot Tribe (primarily prey animals such as deer/bison/ect) with a name along the lines of Sharpfang, Nightclaw ect. Settler names should fall along the lines of, James, John, Mary, ect but there is no hard and fast rule (though try to avoid heavily modern names like, Nevah, Hayli, Joe, Derek). As a side note for this, if you choose to use a traditional native spelling, do your research first! there are several good websites out there for finding good names, however you would be surprised at how many names and meanings are completely made up. We will also be doing research on every bio posted to see if the name matches the meaning you have paired with it, if it does not match, you'll be asked to change it, so save yourself the trouble and just do the research yourself.
o4. You cannot create a character as a child younger than 5, or as a pregnant mother. There can be exceptions made for the sake of plotting, but to avoid confusion and complications, just don't do it.
o5. We do accept all sexual preferences and all known sexuality here on Elohi. How you and each member choose to roleplay per thread is entirely up to you, however we will not tolerate any nasty or bashing behavior outside of the confines of an agreed thread.
o6. Do not make any purely OOC posts in an IC thread. If you need to talk about something OOC and don't have anything IC to post, take it to PM, or the chatbox or the members board, wherever you feel like it, just not inside of the IC thread. Placeholder posts are fine.
o7. We have a 200 post count minimum and that's that. There is a word counter in the left hand sidebar under the Chat/Affiliates. Use it to your advantage.
o8. We don't do god-modding, power-playing or otherwise controlling another's character in any way. This means, in your post, you are not invincible. You are not omnipotent and know what the other character is going to do next. If you are fighting, you can't post that you automatically hit someone, you can suggest the hit ("he aimed a swipe at his head") and the other person decides weather or not your hit lands. You cannot avoid every hit - like previously stated, you are not invincible. You cannot kill someone's character off without permission. You cannot post for another character within your thread without permission. You can, however, request that someone else play your character for a time - just make sure the administrators know.
o9. We enjoy a fun little thing called liquid time. This means that as long as the post you create is within the current season here on the forum (located on the far right, weather tab) you're in the clear as we assume not everyone is doing things on the same date at the same time of the same month. Just keep in mind that if you start your thread during the winter season, unless your post plot spans several weeks/months/seasons, it needs to stay in the winter season until it's completion.
1o. Tribe members and the Settlers do speak different languages. While technically everyone is going to be posting in English, keep in mind that settlers and tribe members are only able to communicate on a very base level and sometimes not at all (imagine trying to talk to someone who had no understanding of your native langue) and while some characters may have a grasp on both languages, it's highly unlikely that you will have a post with both characters able to understand each others speech. If you are in a settler/tribe thread, please note a difference in the languages (ex. italics for native speech).
11. Tribes members and Settlers have different ways of dressing. Settlers tend to dress more in the style of 1600s European settlers/Puritans/Colonials, compared to the Natives who typically dressed in skins of whatever fashion they choose.
12. Face Claims: We do require that you have a picture for both your characters human form and their animal form: While the human form does need to follow some specific guidelines, you are not required to use actors or otherwise famous people as your claims (after all there are only so many right?) while we do welcome the use of actor images, if you do use a model from, for example deviantart or any other such website, you must have permission from the original owner if they require that for the use of of the image and provide a link-back to the original image page. The same applies for animal pictures, as using these images without permission is considered stealing.
